Ever since, Katie has had eczema in varying degrees, from full-body flare-ups, including all over her face, to ongoing breakouts of contact dermatitis on her hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her skin can change a lot throughout the year, for example when pollen counts are high and the seasons change, she experiences more severe flare-ups. In the past, she would avoid wearing certain colours, especially bright colours, as she would worry that these would draw attention to her skin. She\u2019s also found it really useful to know what creams she can reach for when she\u2019s experiencing different types of flare ups, knowing when to flex between emollients and thicker creams to lighter moisturisers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think the hard thing about having eczema is that you always have to consider it \u2013 and that\u2019s where the discomfort comes in. You\u2019re always having to think \u2018can I try that\u2019 or \u2018can I do that\u2019, but over time I\u2019ve learned what I can and can\u2019t use and my triggers.\u201d Katie has created what she calls \u2018a mini skin first aid kit\u2019, which she takes with her wherever she goes.
